NewsGator & AideRSS' PostRank Feature
Way back in in April I explained that we'd begun a partnership with AideRSS so that you could sort your NewsGator Online feeds using their intelligent PostRank technology -- an easy way for RSS subscribers to reduce extraneous information by ranking stories on the level of social engagement.
Then, in July I mentioned that the service had launched on NewsGator Online; at the time, Jeff Nolan, VP of NewsGator's Media & Consumer Products, explained that "Thematic Ranking in PostRank gives users a more focused and personalized experience. Grouping and ranking posts based on themes of interest allows the kind of customization that takes RSS reading to a new level."
In light of our relationship with AideRSS and our use of PostRank, today I stumbled upon a post by Laurence on MakeUseOf.com that delves into some of the interesting details of the PostRank service itself. Among other things, Laurence mentions NewsGator's implementation of PostRank:
"blog posts can be run through PostRank to determine just how popular (and therefore how good) the posts are and this is how NewsGator implemented PostRank. PostRank is both an online RSS reader, service and also an API which developers can choose to include in their applications if they wish. One notable online service which have done is this is Newsgator Online a few months ago."
