NewsGator & AFP Partner to Offer Media Companies Free Olympics Widgets
Partnership to Provide Guaranteed Revenue to Media Companies
Big, exciting news out of NewsGator this morning: we've been working on this for some time with Agence France-Presse (AFP) -- a leading, global news agency -- and now it's time to announce a partnership with them to provide dynamic, branded widgets featuring Olympics news and event coverage to media sites for free.
Media companies will receive complementary access to premium AFP content prepackaged in branded and engaging widgets that they can add to their sites with guaranteed revenue of $0.20 CPM. The key here is that this platform is supported by advertising and the media companies receive a portion of the advertising revenue generated by the Olympics widgets.
The Olympic content is provided by AFP, and every time a reader clicks on one of the widget links they are actually directed back to the media company’s website (not AFP’s) where the full content is displayed on web pages that can be monetized with ads; this will, in turn, increase media companies' page views and ad impressions. These Olympics widgets –- which would include popular Olympics content including a countdown to the games, event news and results, athlete profiles, videos, photos, etc. –- are completely free and there are no maintenance or resource requirements.
The take away message from this deal is that we are helping our distribution partners generate guaranteed revenue from this program –- which is obviously a big deal for media companies –- by providing premium content in a widget package that features their own branding; the fact that they are guaranteed revenue (of $0.20 CPM) by NewsGator will seal the deal.
In short, this partnership is a win-win situation for media companies, their viewers, NewsGator, and AFP.
