A little RAM goes a long way

I'm happy to say that I'm now using my MacBook Pro full time!  It took a little RAM upgrade - which was really, really cheap.  2Gigs to 4Gigs for $115 (including shipping via macsales.com).

I've now got Vista on VMWare Fusion with 2Gigs or RAM (same RAM as in my tablet) but with a 2.2GHz Intel Core Duo.  The performance change is amazing!

Where has it paid off?  Testing with UAC on and UAC off.  When I can reboot (switching UAC requires a reboot), initialize my VPN, load Visual Studio and be running code in just a few minutes... awesome!  And I can pass the reboot time with NetNewsWire :-)

I'm still working out keyboard shortcuts.  Function keys in VS are such a time saver, so I had to disable some of the Mac shortcut keys so that they mapped back to VS.  Not a big deal since I'm not use to the Mac shortcuts anyway.

Now comes the big change - forcing myself to use Mac apps for everything besides development (and using Mac apps for any dev work that doesn't require VS).  I've already been doing this, but we'll see how it goes.

LiveWriter is still a must have though... and UltraEdit is right there are well.  Is there anything out there that I can use instead of UltraEdit (it will be hard to make me change though - I've been an UltraEdit user for about 5 years)?
