Introducing the NewsGator Screen Saver
Looking for a cool new screen saver? One that shows all the latest news and web buzz? Why not try the NewsGator Screen Saver!
** Requires the .Net 2.0 Framework!!
You can get the installer here:

The NewsGator Screen Saver is the next step in our ongoing goal of "NewsGator Everywhere" (note: we're still working on our kitchen toaster app, but have been hampered by a few "fires" in the NewsGator labs :-)
Actually, the NewsGator Screen saver is the product of my little side project to test out the NewsGator REST API. It connects with your NewsGator online account and shows your unread posts.
It's got some pretty cool configuration settings as well. After you set it up with your NewsGator Online account, you'll see this:
From here, you can use the checkboxes to decide which feeds will be shown. This way you can hide anything that you don't want anyone else to see while they're passing by your desk.
Want the items to show longer?
You can change how long items are shown by using the slider on the configuration dialog:
Have Picture or Cartoon Feeds?
By double clicking (or highlighting a feed and clicking the "Edit Feed Options" button - or right-clicking a feed and selecting "Edit Feed Options") you can configure a feed to show just images:
If the feed uses MediaRSS, the included image will be shown - otherwise the screen saver will look for the first image in the post:
Want to use another NewsGator Location?
If you open the Advanced Options dialog:
you can select which location you want to use, AND which feeds will be used by that location. As far as I know, this is the first application that allows you to do location management without having to log into NewsGator Online!
Want more control?
The NewsGator Screen Saver is an interactive screen saver!
Left Arrow - Go to the previous post in the feed
Right Arrow - Go to the next post in the feed
Up Arrow - Go to the next feed
Down Arrow - Go to the previous feed
Spacebar / Return - Close the screen saver and open the current post in the default browser
Using NewsGator Enterprise Server?
The NewsGator Screen Saver also connects to our NewsGator Enterprise Server installations. Interested in this? Leave me a comment and I'll get you in touch with our Enterprise Support Staff.
Have some feedback?
If you run into any problems or if you've got some cool idea's... let use know!
