Desktop Sync Configuration Options
Some quick notes and explanations about the configuration options in Desktop Sync. Hopefully these options explain themselves, but I want to point out a few things.
First, if the animated tray icon annoys you, you can turn it off by unchecking the "Show animated icon during synchronization" checkbox in Synchronization Options.
Next is the Startup Options. The configuration wizard initially sets this, but you can always change it here. If you have this option set, Desktop Sync puts a shortcut in your Startup folder - it doesn't add anything to the registry.
This option also starts Desktop Sync hidden, so you'll only see the tray icon and not the status window. The delay is to allow all your other applications to start up before Desktop Sync starts the synchronization process.
**hint - if you don't want Desktop Sync to start when you logon, but you want it to start hidden and/or with a delay when you start from the Programs menu or any other shortcut, you can add "-d" to the end of the target of the shortcut (ex. "C:\Program Files\NewsGator\DesktopSync\NGDesktopSync.exe -d") to get the same behavior.
The last option I want to mention is the Performance option. If you notice that your computer becomes slower during synchronization, you can use this option to help that.
There are also two keyboard shortcuts that aren't listed in the menus. Ctrl + Alt + C will clear out all of your current synchronization information so that you can force a fresh sync and Ctrl + Shift + K will stop the sync process when it's running.
