Today we announced our partnership with National Geographic to create a series of dynamic widgets that are transforming National Geographic’s content syndication model. The widgets add a new dimension of online distribution for National Geographic’s content by allowing third parties to co-brand the widgets and feature them on their own sites.
In just the first 30 days of the launch, the widgets were syndicated to over 23 media sites not affiliated with National Geographic, extending the potential reach of the National Geographic branded widgets to over 3 million new users. Tampa Bay Online and the Dayton Daily News are two of the media sites that are featuring the National Geographic widgets. National Geographic’s widget implementations are cutting edge and serve as a shining example of how companies can use new media in order to better engage their audience, distribute their content, and build their brand.
