It’s amazing to what extent people will go to find out what their competitors are doing. Ask the New England Patriots if you don’t believe me.
But seriously, every company, ours is no exception, always wants to know what the competition is up to. One of the first things we learned here at NewsGator was that, by using smart feeds that search for certain words, we could find out what people are saying, in weblogs, Twitter posts and news stories, about us and our rivals in RSS enterprise software.
Today RivalSoft announces a new product, RivalMap, that takes that general idea and pushes it several steps ahead. RivalMap aggregates information on competitors into a single place, letting companies monitor news stories and smart feeds using NewsGator’s SaaS (Software as a Solution) automated news engine and Smart Feed technology. There is a glut of information out there on the Web, and RivalMap’s solution gives companies information about competitors and the business landscape to make better decisions.
But let me turn it over to the experts. Josh Larson, NewsGator community manager, has a full analysis on the NewsGator Widgets Blog. Jason Kincaid considers RivalMap on Techcrunch, while Kristin Nicole offers her take at Mashable.
