Last week, Nick Bradbury unveiled FeedDemon 2.5, the latest incarnation of the market-leading RSS aggregator for Windows. Not to be outdone, his client architect counterpart, Brent Simmons released NetNewsWire 3.0, the king of RSS readers for Macs.
NNW 3.0 features a very long list of new features including an enhanced UI, integration with several popular Mac applications and a performance boost. Highlights include:
- Enhanced desktop integration: Popular Mac applications and features such as Spotlight, iCal, Address Book, and iPhoto integrate seamlessly. NNW automatically detects microformats such as contacts and calendar events, and enables users to email authors or add them to Address Book. Additionally, with one mouse click, users can add images from feeds directly to iPhoto. Other desktop features include Growl notification, Twitterrific integration and increased AppleScript support.
- Great new look: Brent emphasized ease-of-use and overall style, and delivered a new interface with a combined view, “cover art,” a full-screen mode, advanced tabs with thumbnail images and animation, and customizable color schemes.
- Performance and memory improvements: NNW was already speedy and memory-friendly, but by implementing a new storage system, startup and load time is noticeably faster and the product can now handle more feeds.
- Improved reading features: Last but not least, to enable faster access and ease-of-use, users can save news items as clippings, hide read items, choose a specific folder when adding a feed, check for updates automatically, move backwards and forwards through news items and show/hide their subscription list.
NetNewsWire 3.0 not only works as a standalone product, but integrates with NewsGator Online and the other client-based readers as well as NewsGator's wide selection of server and services-based business offerings. If you are a current user, you'll want to go give 3.0 a whirl. If you have a Mac and haven't had a chance to try it out, we offer a free 30-day trial. We promise you'll be hooked in no time!

The zipfile contains version 2.1.1 and not version 3! I have tried it 3 times already and the result is the same. Could you re-post the correct version?
