During a keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show this morning, Motorola Chairman and CEO Ed Zander discussed a collaboration between Good Technologies (a division of Motorola) and NewsGator to help bring secure, behind-the-firewall RSS content to customers of Good's managed service. We've had an HTML-based mobile reader that synchronized with NewsGator Enterprise Server (NGES) for more than a year and we're busy integrating the NewsGator Go! family of mobile aggregators with NGES, but this announcement provides yet another option for securely accessing mobile content.
For companies that have adopted (or are considering adopting) Good's family of products- Good Mobile Messaging, Good Mobile Intranet and Good Mobile defense, this collaboration allows them to quickly and seamlessly access secure RSS feeds on their PDAs and Smartphones. Initially, enterprises can access NGES-managed feeds through the existing Good client, but NewsGator and Motorola are jointly developing some additional aggregators and will deliver them later in the year.
Since NGES' inception more than a year ago, we've seen a wide variety of use cases among our more than 50 customers. But regardless of the actual use case, many of the primary end users have been people who are rarely at their desks for long periods of time- sales, marketing, executive staff and services as examples. Being able to deliver secure content to them via their mobile devices is tremendously important and this partnership enables us to do this for more than 12,000 customers of the Motorola Good Technology Group.
As coverage appears, we'll add updates here.
