The First NewsGator Enterprise Server Review

As you know, NewsGator Enterprise Server is now available.  We, the marketing group at NewsGator, spent a lot of time this past summer crafting messaging around NGES and it's benefits to organizations who are ready to take the RSS model behind the firewall.  You name it: whitepapers, brochures, datasheets, demos ... we created them and they are all posted on our website.  This is standard operating procedure, and it's all good stuff.  But, as we all know, it is one thing to talk about your products in carefully crafted messages...it's something entirely different to have your product speak for itself and do a better job of it.

Mauricio Freitas of Geekzone was the first independent/objective party to review NGES.  And it is a great review!  Here is an excerpt:

Third Time's the Charm

It's official.  For the third year in a row, NewsGator was honored by EContent Magazine, making the publication's list of the top 100 companies that define the digital content industry - the EContent 100. It is a pretty distinguished crowd ... Moreover Technologies, O'Reilly Media and Apple were on the list to name just a few.

A lot has changed around here since 2003 when we were first named to the EContent 100.  Back then we were just a company of one person - the one and only, Greg Reinacker.  Last year when we recieved the honor for the second time we had just started to grow significantly.  And this year, we are literally bursting at the seams and still growing!

In 2003 we had one product, the Outlook plug-in.  And now, in addition to Outlook Edition, we have the Web Edition, Mobile Edition, Media Center Edition, FeedDemon for Windows, NetNewsWire for the Mac, Business IQ, NewsGator Enterprise Server, and a suite of Private Label products.  I suppose that is why we call ourselves "The RSS Platform Company."

The face of the industry has changed since 2003, too.  In 2003, there were a handful of RSS aggregators to compete with.  Now?  There are hundreds of competitors.  So, to stay on top for three years is a great honor! 

How did we get here?  By listenting to our customers first and foremost.  We pay attention when we get feature requests posted on our forum and in the blogosphere and build them into our roadmap.  We listen to support issues and address the problems directly and honestly. 

Our dedication to customer support is the one constant in our business that will never change.  Hopefully, our perennial inclusion in the EContent 100 is another.

NewsGator Launches Global Partner Program

We've had a lot of interest over this past year from software resellers who were interested in partnering with us to offer our products to their customers.  Since the acquisition of FeedDemon and NetNewsWire, that interest has increased exponentially.  We weren't exactly surprised by that fact, and have been working feverishly to get our program in place.  We are excited to announce the launch of our new Global Partner Program for software resellers and on-line brands. 

The Global Partner Program features three different channel opportunities:

NewsGator Resellers for our partners who want to provide NewsGator's suite of RSS aggregation products to their customers. 

NewsGator Affiliates for our partners who are looking to introduce their on-line audiences to the NewsGator brand.

NewsGator Co-promotional Partners for content providers who want to extend their brand by featuring their content on our on line system.

Time's Up

A Good Acquisition? No, a Great Acquisition!

As you may already know, NewsGator acquired Ranchero Software's NetNewsWire and MarsEdit brands a month or so ago.  You may recall us mentioning that we couldn't wait to get started working with Brent Simmons, the brilliant mind behind NNW. 

Well, we just got word that NetNewsWire has been nominated for the MacWorld Readers' Choice Awards.  This is cool on many different levels, but mainly that NetNewsWire ROCKS! and MacWorld, arguably the most well read Mac-centric magazine agrees.  Now we hope the readers agree, too.

Of course NetNewsWire hasn't won yet, and we have some pretty stiff competition (Transmit, Comic Life, Audio Hijack Pro, and more), but we are excited and honored to be nominated.
